The Rules

Your short film can be made on any topic or subject matter – comedy, drama, action & on any format – Super8, Digital or Animation – it’s your choice. It may be fictional or nonfictional. Flinders Flicks is a PG rated event – so please take this into consideration when submitting your film to the festival.

All we ask is that you supply us a finished film under 3 minutes long, with titles and credits. There is no limit on the number of people that can be involved in a film, but each name must be in the credits! An individual or group is not restricted to being involved with or making just one film. Multiple entries from individuals or groups are just fine!!

Remember Copyright – Make sure you own it. Please don’t use stories, music, other video or characters that you didn’t create unless you have permission to use them. If your film infringes any forms of copyright especially music, we can’t show your film.

– The festival is open to everyone – from the first time filmmaker to the seasoned professional.
– Films must be up to 3 minutes long, include titles and credits with all copyright clearance.
– Films can be any genre.
– Films must include the ‘Flinders Flicks Theme’ in the film, interpretation is entirely up to the filmmaker.
– The 2019 ‘Flinders Flicks Theme” is WATER.

A panel of judges will choose the “Best Festival Film”, “Best Environmental Theme”, the “Best Youth Film” and the “Local Encouragement Award” the audience will play the important role of critic to select the “Audience Choice Award” with cash and/or prizes being awarded to these films.
